The Mysteries of the Rosary are designed to help focus our prayer on the life, ministry, and Passion of Our Lord. Many spiritual battles have been won because of praying the Rosary. Miracles and many hearts have been touched and many discouraged people have been uplifted because of the Rosary.
The Rosary prayer is described as "the compendium of the entire Gospel." There are four rosary mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, Luminous) and five parts of each mystery which correspond to the five decades of the rosary.
The Joyful Mysteries focus on the joyful events related to the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. The Sorrowful Mysteries focus on the sorrowful events related to the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. The Glorious Mysteries focus on the glorious events related to the Resurrection and the reigning of Christ in heaven with His Mother Mary. The Luminous Mysteries or mysteries of light (added by Pope St. John Paul II) focus on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
The colors of the liturgical seasons change throughout the seasons. Throughout the church calendar, specific colors are used to symbolize specific meanings: The use of these colors are not haphazard. Rather, the colors use is meaningful and is used to honor special occasions and
sacraments.
